This feature allows users to monitor and control the system from anywhere. With an Ethernet connection, you may monitor and control the system with a PC, tablet, or smartphone.
# **Local Ethernet network**
A local Ethernet network uses its own Ethernet network locally without using the Internet. This allows the PC, tablet, or smartphone to be connected to the Xpanel through a wireless router using the same network IP.
# **Public IP Ethernet network**
If a public IP is assigned to the Xpanel, users can access Xpanel anywhere using the Internet via Wi-Fi, 4G, 5G, or LTE.
> đź“ť VNC allows more than one device to have a remote connection to the Xpanel at a time.
To use the VNC function, you must start the VNC server in the Xpanel. You can start or stop the server with the following steps.
# **Starting and Stopping the VNC Server**
## Starting and stopping the server in CIMON Canvas
1. Click **Tools **> **Connection Setup…** and select the Xpanel(s) having VNC initiated by checking the box on the left-hand side.
2. After the user has chosen their Xpanel(s), click **Start VNC Server **> **Launch VNC Viewer**
3. To stop the VNC server on the selected device, click **Stop VNC Server**.
> ⚠️ Subnet mask and gateway must be configured to match those of the PC and Xpanel(s).
# **Starting and stopping the server in Xpanel**
1. If the Settings dialog box is not already open, tap the corners of the Xpanel screen in the sequence shown below:
**bottom-left** > **bottom-right** >** top-right**.
2. Tap **Exit** to stop the Xpanel runtime and get redirected to the Control Center window.
3. On the Control Center window, go to the VNC by tapping **Settings **> **VNC Server Setup**.
4. You can start the remote-control server by clicking **Start VNC Server**. If the Autorun On Startup option has been selected, the server starts automatically when the Xpanel is turned on. You may stop the remote-control server by clicking **Stop VNC Server**.
# **Mobile Network Configuration**
## Mobile configuration in Mocha VNC Lite application
1. Search for the “Mocha VNC Lite” app on Apple Store/Play Store and install the application on your smartphone.
2. Tap **Configure **in the start menu of the application.
3. Tap **New…** to establish a new network configuration.
4. Input the parameters of the Xpanel IP, port, and password. Enter the hash sign (#) in the password field, which indicates the nonuse of passwords. Tap **Save **to save the settings.
5. Go back to the main menu and tap **Connect**. You can connect to the Xpanel with the corresponding configuration.
# **Assigning a static IP address**
When you wish to connect to the Xpanel via a 4G/5G/LTE network, you must target a public IP address (append a port-forward to the public IP address for Xpanel with a local IP address). In the following example, you can connect to the VNC server with a static IP address or dynamic IP address. To use the VNC function in the mobile phone, a wireless network configuration is required. The following instruction explains the step for the mobile network through an IpTime device.
1. Access your router admin interface by opening a web browser, and at the address bar, type the default gateway of your ipTIME router device. Then, click **Setup**.
2. At the Config Explorer pane, click **Advanced Setup** > **Firewall **> **Mgmt Access List**.
3. Checkmark the **Remote Mgmt port #** and set the number of the Management port.
4. To set up port forwarding to assign a socket port number in the ipTIME, click **Advanced Setup** >** NAT/Routing** > **Port Forwarding**.
5. Assign the static IP address and socket port number used in the Xpanel, then click **Apply**. The default socket port number used in the Xpanel is 5900.
6. Navigate back to Mocha VNC Lite app on your smartphone. Tap **Configure** to enter the static IP address and port number of the Xpanel in the configuration box in the application.
# **Assigning dynamic IP address**
On the Xpanel, go to the Network Settings within the Xpanel Settings and choose DHCP for either LAN 1 IP Config or LAN 2 IP Config, then tap **Apply and Save**.
